i A NOTE FROM THE NEW PRESIDENT A newsletter should convey news, and occasionally it may be used as a podium for a newly elected Society president, such as myself. We are indeed fortunate to have a high-quality newsletter which provides information on natural events and records of flora and fauna. Some members rarely read it, but for others, it is the chief reason for joining the Natural History Society. It is delivered to all Island schools and back issues are deposited in libraries for anyone to consult. The editor contributes many personal touches to a newsletter, but the content is the responsibility of the members. What would you like to see in the newsletter? It strikes me that ours has become preoccupied with birds, but perhaps that is your preference. If it is not, tell the editor what you would like to read. Finally, you might want to share your outdoor experience in the newsletter. Think about it. You can make a record of what may be a unique observation, you can let others know what you think, and you don't have to be a prize-winning novelist to be published. Your contributions are the final product. Rosemary Curley SAVE SOUTH MORESBY CARAVAN All Canadians are being called on to get aboard the Save South Moresby Caravan.
