UPEI Cadre October 19, 2004 page 9 VP Activities UPEI Enthusiasts, My name is Peter Grandy and I am the Vice President of Activities. It is my duty to ensure stu- dents have an enjoyable time during their stay here at UPEI. Some means of achieving this goal con- sist of concerts, movie pubs, clubs, societies, and events such as Winter Carnival. This year I am determined to get everyone involved in one way. or another. University can be very stressful and through involvement, students have a chance to relax. The Student Union was fortunate enough to receive permission from the province to hold wet- dry events this year. This means students under the age of nineteen are permitted to enter the Wave (our pub) for special events. This will enable the first year students to feel welcome and part of the UPEI community. Clubs and Societies are another great way to get involved. Many students have dif- ferent tastes but I can assure you that there is a club or society to meet the needs of every student and if not, you can. always start your own club. There is about 20 different clubs and societies out there that allow people, with the same interests, to socialize and have fun. Some students have a knack for writ- ing, unlike myself, and are free to write their mind through our newspaper “The Cadre”. As you can see, there is something for everyone and | encour- age all students to seek an activity that suits them. If you aren’t sure where to start, | recommend coming to talk with me. That is why | am here. | hope everyone has a great year and to all the stu- dents out there- party on! Peter Grandy VP Activities vpa@upei.ca 566-0670
