The annual meeting of the Mill River East Presbyterian Young Peoples Society was held at the Haywood home. The devotions were conducted by the minister, Rev. G. B. Cunningham of Albert- on. The roll call was responded to by eleven members. The following officers were then elected with the Minister presiding as chairman- President--Mrs. Jamie Gard: vice president-Mrs. Kentford Horne; secretary - Mrs. R. G. Haywood: social canveners-lvurs. George Cunningham and Mrs. Sutherland Bell. The retiring president. Mrs. Sutherland Bell thanked vhe mem- bers for their co-operation. This active and enthusiastic group of young people are looking forward to another year of interesting and instructive meetings. Committees for the next two weeks are: Sick- Mrs. Kentford Horne; devotional- Mrs. Harold Home. the next meet- ing will be held at the home oi Mr. and Mrs. Kentiord Home. -There was an attendance of about thirty on Monday night Dec. 4th at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Lockhart in Coleman when the annual meeting of the Brse United Ohurch Young People's Union was held. The meeting open- ed with a short devotional ser- vice conducted by the President Mrs. Roy Oulton. A fine financial report was given by the secretary- treasurer Mrs. Lorne MacNevin. The Y. P. U. had a paid up mem- bership of 24, and it is one of the largest groups in the Western Presbytery Y. P. U. During last year it bought new hymn books for the church, contributed to many charities and sponsored two com- munity parties in which all the children of the community were invited. one at Christmas and one at Hnllowe'cn.
