HAMILTON Disgruntled (CUP) - with the waf- fling of the Progressive Con- servative party in Ottawa, three McMaster University students have decided to as- sist in the birth of a new federal political party with CIMN radio and you: What has happened to CIMN Radio??? I am cer- tain that many of you won- der why you are unable to pick up the: campus radio in the residences. Well,“as you haves read in the: Gem pre- viously, the cablés connec- tion the output to.the trans- mitter were cut during the restoration of main building this summer. Since that is- sue of the Gem, the prob- lem was fixed and broadcast- ing resumed to normal. "Unfortunately, a month after the problem, was fixed, the fire in the tunnels burned the wires connecting to the transmitter. -Again, we have a technical problem. So, at this time, CIMN Radio can Only be heard on the FM Ca- ble hookup off campus. This is located at 102.3 on the dial. We are on the“air de- spite what any person may tell you. We just are not on campus through the carrier- current. Due to this problem the Student Council is looking the very near future. “strong mora) values”. Jack Schoemas, Michael Van Pelt and Ray Pennings — all third year history s4. dents — have devoted most of this semester to organizing the founding convention of the Christian Heritage Party into the problem, and will try to have it restored in It is very difficult for any volun- teer DJ to have a positive attitude towards their work when they cannot hear any feedback from it’s listening audience: So, I urge any off- campus listener to call the station to make requests, or even just to say hello to the DJ.on the air. The num- bers are~ 566-0417 or 892- 8980. Hearing positive com- ments makes any job that much more fun and exciting. As for those people who insist on knocking the sta- tion, please try to under- stand that it is not the fault of radio management or the fault of the Student Council that the fire created so many problems.» Once we're back on the AM radio, all the peo- ple in the residences will be able to return to listening to a radio station that plays the type of music that you want to hear. We aren’t trying to discredit CFCY or CHTN to be held November 18- 21 in Hamilton. Founded in June 1986 with an initial membership of 125 people, the CHP now has aout 5,000 paid-up mem- . bers »ith 15 recognized rid- ING AaSSOctietignns across the since they help us out dur- ing the year. All we mean to say is that they do not target their programming format to university students as we do. The management at CIMN wants to thank all the students who work hard to make the sta- tion the place that it is. It’s fun, “creative, and has some of the best parties of all the societies. For you that at- tended the CIMN party that was hosted at Paulo Lom- bardi’s and Jack Wheelers place last week, you can all agree that it was a good time (even though it wasn’t much fun cleaning the place the next morning!!). I’d also like to take the time out to mention that the annual Student Union party is being held next Saturday night and ask all members to attend. It’s a good time for every volunteer of the Stu- dent Union. So, good luck in your ex- ams etc, and have a good hol- iday. The station will be clos- We, THE OIRECTOR’S OF TE MULRONEY MORALS SQVAD ovr country. According to Van Pelt the Christian Heritage Party, which is pro-life, promotes traditional family values. “We would not encour- age or support homosexual behaviour and we encourage Christian morality in leader- ship,” he said. The party believes in a “free enterprise under God” system where responsibility for social programmes would be shifted from the govern- ment to churches and family and friends of the destitute. Van Pelt said the many Ontario students involved in the party are dismayed by the lack of sincerity and in- tegrity in today’s federal gov- ernment. ing on Friday Dec. the 4th to allow everyone the neces- sary time to study for the dreaded exams. We will be setting up a schedule for next semester on Friday Dec. 4th so it’s first come, first served when it comes to shifts. I hope that all DJ’s will con- tinue to keep a shift and I do promise that all will done soon to have the station back on it’s AM frequency. Please remember that —_——~ ——- “I think young peopld are basically sick and tired ¢ what we’re seeing in govern ment today,” he said. “I voted for Brian Mul. roney. I’ was excited, but young people now can see this guy doesn’t really know where he’s going.” Van Pelt said the conven, tion will be used to iron out party policy for the next fed- eral election when they hopé to run 50 candidates. Van Pelt said he doesn't yet have the maturity to be a candidate. “We're three young guys. We know how to work hard and we've learned a lot about adminis- tration but I would like to have a few more grey hairs before.I run in an election.”s An open ‘otter from the Station Manager Dec. 4th is the day to choos new shifts for next semeste Also, if anyone new woul like to come to the statio| (located third floor of t Barn) to be trained so the can have a shift, please fe4 free to come up any time bd tween now and the end q semester.
