YOUNG APPRECJATED -During the months oi April -and May the pupils of tlie.Tryon Consolidated School were much aided in their ita- ture Study work by a series of leu- turc-rs on Bird Study, delivered by the Rev. G. M. Young, ot' Tryon. The rev- erend gentleman is an authority on birds and it was wilt marked results that the pupils listened weekly to his instructive talks. As a completion to the work, Mr. Young summarized his work gone over in an able address in the Tryon Hall. The illustrated pic- tures shown on the screen greatly in- creased the vnluc ofthe lecture. A large number of the rate-payers were present and showed their interest by t_-ontributing to a sting sum to be used ‘ hy the school for the purpose of bird literature. A written examination was afterward given and a prize offered to the pupil making the highest marks in each class. The result was: Senior class, llarrison Bell; intermediate, Jenn Halliwell; junior, Margaret How- att. The Principal, Mr. Fred Bell, the pupils, ami parents ure greatly in- debted to Mr. Young for the interest he has shown in the development ot` this important brunch of school work.
