ATTEMPT To B`uRN'cuuRcH Believed to be the Work of the Suffra- getien A startling discovery was made at St. Luke's Church, Abercarn. When the church was opened a strong smell` ,of paraffin oil became apparent, and it was found that the flooring boards .and matting near the door had been soaked with oil, whilst a match had ,apparently beenvllgliteci and dropped. but had gone out. Outside, not far away a hottie, which had contained paradln oil, was found. A few days previously some young ladies who were passing the church noticed smoke issuing from the building, and gave an alarm. It was then found that fire had broken out in the chancel floor, but it was quickly extinguished. There was nothing to show how the outbreak occurred, though many believed it was the work of suffrageitee. | Huiii.liinii§_l The following registered at the Vic- toria Hotel on Saturday--R.
