GRAND JURY PRESENTMENT. Burore their discharge, on Thursday, the Grand Jury made the following present- ment in reference to the Queen’s County Jail :— Granp Jury Room, 26th June, 1879. The Grand Jury, having visited the Char- lottetown Jail, desire to bring to the notice of the Court, the followiog matters requ*“ng, in their judgment, immediate attention, in order to the maintenance of the health of per- sons therein incarcerated. The Grand Jury suggest thas the criminals be taken out for—say, at least one hour each day, in charge of a kee; -r--in order that the prisoners may obtain fresh air, and to afford an opportumty of airing the cells. The Grand Jury calls atiention to the fact that, in the different cells visited, no water- closets are to be found, and that the nece? sary conveniences are not at all in keep.ng with the requirements. The Grand Jury calls attention to the fact that, in each of the criminals compartments a continuous fire is kept on for cooking pur- poses during the day, rendering the atu s- phere much too hot for either comfort or health. The Grand Jury cal's attention to the Jack of ventilation at night in the Debtors’ pr.son, and beg to suggest that an iron grating cr veatilator be placed over the doors of said rooms, The Grand Jury beg to recommend that the prisoner—William Young—be removed to the unatic Asylum at as early a day as possible, the said Young being, in their opinion, a fit subject for that Iastitution.
