‘rua sdsrid esteemed, Mr. Green rIASZARD'S IGAZETTE MAY 2!. HASZARITS GAZETTE. Wednesday. May 91, 1858. Tan Harbour presents a very cheerful ap- rance, vessels of all kinds are arriving and some departing. The stir and bustle conse- quent on loadin and unloading pleasantly contrasts with t e inaction which is always revuleiit at the breaking up of winter and efore the navigation is o en. The weather is highly favorable for the armor and gardener, and is, we think, a fortnightin advance of last season. We trust that it will he the herald of a good harvest. We _ars also well pleased to Ice extensive preparations for building in the City. There is no better criterion of the ad- vanee ct‘ the island generally than the increase and improvement of the Cit metropolis. In an a ieultural County, the own can only sub- sist the requisition from the industrial farming part of the po ulation ; as the Country increases, so will the own. When the farmers cease to thrive, the merchants and all connected with trade will suffer likewise. We make men- tion of this obvious truth, because we know that there are those who endeavour to inculcate that the interests of the City are antagonistic to those of the agriculturists, than which nothing can be more mischievous. We perceive that the City Council are bus - ing themselves about the streets and side-wnl s we shall give the result of their deliberations as early as possible. We underst;d, fioin-reliiihlcjauthority, that the Steamer Rosebud, linving been thoroughly 1, refitted and repaired under the inspection of Lloyd's Serve or, will be placed on the route between Char ottetown and Pictou next week. We hope the Government will marks an ar- rangement with Mr. Ileard, for the conveyance of the Mails, as it not likely the Rosebud will be kept on the route solely by the remuneriition from freight and passengers. The Presbytery of P. E. Island, in connexion with the P. . 0 Nova Scotia, will meet at Lot 16, on Wednesday, the 4th day of Juiie—Ser- men, (D. V.,) by the Rev. James Tlioiupsoii, of N. S.
