The Cadre ~- 17 November 1998 Soccer Panthers close stunning season Miller honoured as MVP of CIAU By CADRE STAFF The men’s soccer Pan- thers captured the AUAA title ina2-0 victory over the Acadia Axemen, their first Atlantic championship in over 13 years. After this triumph, they proceded to the CIAU men’s soccer championship. Cheered on by Island fans, the team played hard but came up tangs. UPEI was then placed in the bronze medal contest against Université du Québec a Montr al, but was unable to overcome. The game score was 5-2 in favour of UQAM. Ona brighternote, Glen Miller received glowing acco- lades for his accomplishments on the pitch this season. The fifth year Panthers sweeper was named the CIAU Most Player. The award is bestowed by the CIAU Soccer Coaches Association. Miller was also named to the All-Canadian first team and was named MVP at the AUAA championships. It is his fourth time being chosen for the All-Canadian team. Goran Rudic was also honoured for his strong season by being named to the second All-Star team. Jonathon Vos came very close to being awarded Rookie of the Year. Solid play by John Sutton, David Dutcher, Brody MacMurrar, John Michael Murphy and Shane Etchegary and their fellow teammates also contributed to the Panthers impressive showing this year.
