Mr. McLu\'e informed thc couriers he was in favour of the payment nf higher remuneration to them. He had often thought u petition should be circulated, in‘the pre- amble of which there should be set forth the work done by thc couriers under sevcrest climatic conditions, and a comparison with the work done in other depart- ments. Mr. Mv/: expressed himself as being behind thc couriers heart and soul, because hc felt that the couriers were working under an unfortunate system. So long as the cqurlers performed their work sat- isfactorily he and Mr. Mclnirc had seen that the contracts were rc- newed.` Conditions, howcvcr, had not improved as during the last five yours tenders had been rnd- ically lowered. The system which perihitted of such it condition was wrong. Mr; McLure and the spcakci' on every occasion in the futurc would use' their vote and their voicc on behalf' of the mail couriers.
