Peter's Road in the early hours of Wednesday morning, January 31st. 1940, one of the es- teemed citizens of that place 1n the person of Alfred Larthard. He was seventy-one veers old, having been born on December 31st, 1868. As a young man he spent some time in the United Notes. Later he returned to the old homestead on 5t. Peters Road, and took up fann- ing there. Honest and upright in all his dealings with those, whonl he came in contact with, the late Mr. Larthard was highly respected in the community in which he lived. About two years ago hi5 health be- gan to fail. and in the Autumn of 1939, acting on lhc advice of his physician he entered the Prince Edward Island Hospital. where he underwent a. serious operation, from which he rallied for D. time. Eight ago he again became ser- iously ill, and gradually grew weak- er. Although confined to his bed for a. 10m: time, he retained all his facilities and was able to converse dntclligently with all those. who v15- iterl him.
