It was a matter of | common rumor that the young people were devoted to each other, and that the youthful Queen insisted that she should choose him as her consort, says the Philadelphia Lecord. But oo of state prevailed over love, and young Ellenborough was given a commission in the army and went India, where he distinguished himself. His romantic love affair led to the writing ofa ae , which used to be sung in the drawing rooms of Great Britsia, the first verse of aie is as follows: te 2 I'll hang my harp on a wil’ow tree, I’\l off to the wars egain; A peaceful horae has no charws for me, The battlefield no pain; The lady I love will soon be a bride, With a diadem on her brow, Oh, why did she flatter my boyish pride? she’s going to leave me now. ++3°++— Lecal Notices. 5,000 pounds cf rolled oats received to- day at Beer & Goff’s. nov24 Si Cloakings.—-A large assortment at Stan- ley Bros., Brown's Block.
