Laura-—Leigh Thursday night The Razorbacks was a highly publicized and promoted event but those who expected a good time with good music probably came away disappointed. The music style was awful, almost sort of old fashioned and too in- credibly loud. They most likely cranked it to cover over the dis- tortion but all that that did was make your ears ring and kill any possible conversation. Hardly any top forty tunes were played. The crowd was large and the dance floor jammed; however, many went downstairs to escape the high volume and horrid tunes. Two Panther paws out of four. Terri-—Lyn This pub at the barn was a phenomenal success! Tickets were five dollars and sold out at the door. If you like loud dance music, you should have been at the Barn Thursday night. One student who was interviewed was quoted as saying “It was a great band and the drummer was sexy as hell!” One students compared the style of music to that of the. Stray Cats. Another successful Carnival event was this, remem- ber, the more successful these pubs are, the more likely we are to get better bands and hold pubs more often. Four out of four Panther paws. Winter Carnival a Success This years Winter Carnival was one of the most successful in tecent years at UPEI. Participa- tion was at its highest for a ma- jority of the events. The Win, Lose, or Draw was great fun, with 14 teams competing. Every- one who attended the face paint- ing and Panthers vs Blue Eagles game had a terrific time. The Panther was in attendance along with the Eagle Killer and his prey and an entire section of very loud, very happy, green and white fans MMM MO MM MM OM OM OM The highlight of the week was, of course, the Razorbacks. The Barn was bursting at the seams on Thursday night with both (sopping) Wet and ?Dry? Stu- dents and each had an equally? fantastic time. The week finished off on Friday with yet another ca- pacity crowd for the campus com- edy. We were entertained by fel- low students competing for the top prize and a chance to enter Schooner’s Inter-Collegiate Com- edy Competition held this year in Moncton. Winners were: a 1st Glen McCarville 2nd Kool K. (Kirstin Lund) » 3rd Chris Martin Honorable mention Ian Wood yg The entire week has been fantastic (except for the Rocky Horror Picture Show mishap - » | sorry!) Thanks for participating and making our job so much more enjoyable. Mary Nicholson Kristin Lund und Wiptegorgye! geet mM | i i a Laura—Leigh The Rocky Horror Picture Show , a fantastic cult classic, is always a crowd pleaser. But on PEI one element Islanders don’t seem to catch on to is that it calls for participation! Watching the film clip here is like study- ing in the Robertson Library. At first, people threw rice and then they seemed to die out. Only three people did the time warp dance, only a few shouted when they cued the audience participa- tion lines. The shoddy spliced film that Criterion pictures sent us didn’t help when it broke be- fore the last 20 minutes of the film were over. Quite a few people showed up for this, but few peo- ple actually participated in it as the show calls for. You go to a regular movie pub at the Pan- ther Lounge and you can’t hear a thing, but when Rocky Horror plays and asks for yelling, noise, and obnoxious behavior, everyone acts like they’re watching a docu- mentary in class. Rumour has it some people even took notes! Two Panther paws. 5 it iy si SZ ee ql i a AL } i ae "fio - a Cy te be : a i er i ee Pa a, pa ee arger making tion aoe even a a
