Virgima, which was yesterday in doubt, has gene for Cleveland by 10,000 New Jersey gives the New York Governor 1266 plurality. Connecticut gives him 1839 plurality. Therefore he can be elected without Indiana, provided he gets New York. The doubtful States at this hour are California, Indiana, Michigan and New York. : Without them, Cleveland has 165 votes in the E‘ectoral College, and Blaine 162. Shonld he get Michigan, Indiana and California, he would be elected without New York. H. 8.—Mise Aanie F rguson, At last accounts, however, the Repub- leans were gaining in Indiana, and the chances are in favor of their getting the other two doubtful States. The Democrats feel that they must have New York. Gov. Cieveland believes he has carried the State. The Democratic State Com- ,muittee claims it by 3,000 to 5,000, their last estimate being exactly 4,714. The Commitiee has telegraphed a warn- ing to every town in the State for its agents and friends to watch closely for frauds. Returns have been received from several counties reversing the Democratic majori- ties, and there is conclusive evidence that the Republicans are intent upon counting Creveland out, Tae Republican Committee claims every- thing, aud will not give any definite figures until the doubtful districts are heard from Then, if these despatches are unfavorab!e to them look out for frauds. Steve Eikins telegraphed to Augusta to Blaine to go to New York at once. It is estimated that the quarrel be- tween Tammany and the County Democ- racy cost Cleveland 20,000 votes in New York City. The entire population of that city seems demoralized. The suspense is terrible. The associated press returns are discord- |ant, and there are all sorts of rumors about a couference between Elkins and Gould, the ‘result of which conference was the sending about of news favorable to Blaine. New York Returns. New York, Nov. 6, Returns from 1812 election districts in New York State, outside the cities of New York and Brooklyn, give Blaine 396,550, Cleveland 339,162. This leaves 1,295 votes ro be obtained by Blaine to equal Cleve- land’s majority in New York City and Brooklyn. ; LATEST. New York, Nov. 6. With New York and King’s County, and all but 144 districts in other parts of the State to hear from, Cleveland has a plurality of 24 votes. Towns to hear from gave Garficld a plurality of 3,000. LATER. Returns of the Election. New York, Nov. 7 (3 a. m). There was the deepest interest felt as to the resnlt of the election to-day. The reports sll day favored first one party and then the other, but aow we can safely de- clare Cleveland elected. The resuitin New York State shows a meagre mj rity for Cleveland. We pre- sent in a table below the result as indicated hy last reports, and it seems that the Demo- crats are victorious :— AILY wt) New Yorr, Nov. 6. ’ veland’s majority in New York State Is 1001?
