V MICKEY} mic/E )fié recall, with amusement a cartoon, of about a de— cade ago, which showed two sedate old gentlemen .looking out their office window at a parade of sc— ruffy looking protesting college students. The .captain was " I wonder 'what became of "Rah — Rah - Rah?" We have no objection to protests & think they often show a commendable interest in things but we often have wished for more of the "Rah — Rah" spirit so ‘ that we are happy to re- port that we find it st— ronger in the Panther Lo- unge‘directly after a fo- otball or hockey game th- PHOfiO.BY"GORDON'CDFFIN' \ ' . JOCK mk “an“in any place we can think of. Farticularly ' so when our valiant Pa- nthers have come outpodifi top. Last Saturday aft? ernoon's party was esp— ecially good. This is being written in and wi- llbe published and read in Prince Edward Island and we muSt have due re- gard for hard—to—unerst— andlaws so that we will dutifully report_that go— od cheer was abundant as ginger ale & coke flowed freely. As our heroes " dropped in for a relaxi- ng root beer each was cheered roundly. Spec— tator students replayed the game in a manner th— at little resembled what went on on\the field. Runs & passesibecome sp- ectacular & hits are harder than in the N.F.L. ....all to singing, tab- lethumping & dancing & the music of CSUR. We might also comment that we appreciated being “a 13’s? warm:- ‘served by Andree Beaur- egard as we think her a much prettier than Billy ' Mutch, Don maginnis or Carl MacKinnoh.’ 0r alm- ost anybody else tbr that matter. As for the game itself . . .well ANY game is good when you win. We didn't think it was as close as the 35-18 score_would indicate. We thought that after we preached a 25—4 lead, Co- ach Hilton started pre- paring for next Saturdays engagement with Mount A. We don't like to pick any players as outstanding but would say that we we-- re glad to see that the Canvin arm can still th- ow strikes & our greatest thrill was Bobby Thompson's break through early in the contest to stop an almost certain field go— al. This seemed to set the stage for the game that followed. Next week it will be our team travelling to Sackf The Cadre, Sept. 24, ]974, P9- 9 ville for an important ‘game against the strong Mounties. ~If enough st— udents show enough inte— rest (and$'s) the Stude— nt Unoin will run a bus. Including ferry fare the cost should be approxim— ately $4.00. You'll he— ar more over CSUR. These bus trips are REALLY fun & you shouldn't miss them. We expect there'll be a victory party in the Pan— ther Lounge & the bus will be back in plenty of time for that celebration. Just go down & see Jane McCormac in the S.U. some time before Thursday with your money clutched in your mit & you'll never be sorry! We talked briefly with hockey coach John Kane & he tells us that there will be about 40 players trying out for the team. He thinks of this year as more of a reshuffle rath— er than a rebuilding al- though there are lots of‘ new fades to meld in with the strong holdovers from. last season. We are glad to see hometojn players Jerry McCarron & Carl Trainor back with us af- ter an effective sojourn with U.N.B. our biggest loss, other than the exp- ected graduations is Steve Van Deist who is defecting to S.M.U. Steve is one of our favorite players & we had a strong personal liking for him so we find ourselves at a loss to comment. After long co— gitation we can think of is that we wish hifljij luck and every success-fi;—___ in his studies. if We wonder if Our students will have to pay admission as they travel to 95M.U., Acadia & Mount A. 3We con— sider it most unjuSt that we welcome visiting stu- dents free of charge & often have to pay fulll admission when the Pant— er Rooters in Sackville next Saturday and as we end this labouriouS‘two—. finger typing task we'll take off our hat & bare ouerald pate in tribute to the consciencious & enthusiastic hard working Cadre staff who are, this year, sacrificing their weekends so that you may get their excellent paper at a more convenient time! HOW about a (ginger) ale to these sentiments? Footnote . . . We have just learned that'our Gi— rl's Field Hockey team blanked U. of Moncton 2— O. Atta Girlslllll!
