Anchors pounded out eight hits :1 the second inning, two of them oubles, h the plate. They added three more runs in the sixth inning. , Centre fielder Glen Matheson Qed the Anchor barrage as he pounded out five hits in five trips rfao the plate for a perfect day at bat. His last hit was a booming hiple to deep centre field. , Left hander Jackie Burke went all the way for the winners lim- tlting the Falcons to only four hits. Burke pitched steady as he walk- ed only one man and struck out pix. . Playing coach Buck Whitlock was the star of the Falcons. He took over the pitching duties in the second innings to kill the lAnchor rally. Buck struck out fen mcn, walked one and gave up peven hits. Buck also provided the Falcons punch at the plate. He banged out three hits in four tries to drive in. two runs His first hit was g, double into centre field. ; The Falcons picked up single runs in the first and fourth inn- fngs and scored two in the sixth. They threatened to get. back into the ball game in the sixth but a heads up double play by the Anchors eliminated the threat. . The bases were loaded in the sixth as the result of singles by Whitlnck and Joe Coyle and an intentional pass to Cliff Ready. The fast pacing Cheeky Chief won the first and second heats the race with little trouble. Driver Joey Hennessey had the Chief in front all the way in both races and came to the wire about two lengths ahead. Most of the night's excite- ment was found in the 2.14 pace. Argot Pointer, reined by Harold Stead took the first dash. Claude O'Brien drove Loch Hanover to a win the second dash and Hedge- wood Chief came through in the stretch to win the third. Joan Chief. a pacing ronn mare. won the second and fifth races. The sleek pacer set a new record in the second race by doing the mile in 2.12 2-5. Miss Judy Dale won the opening dash for trot- ters. Mccabc captured first place honors in the special shoot. held at the Squaw Point Range on Saturday which was the third of four shoots being staged by the Provincial Rifle Association in preparation for the coming annual P. E. 1. rifle match. Coming up with some excellent marksmanship, Captain McCabe and Major G. A. MacDonald tied with near perfect scores of 122 out of a possible 125 in compet- ition of 10 shots from the 200 yard range and 15 shots from the 600 yard range.
