WomanHires a Spec- ial Train and is Taken tothe Cape Where She Meets Her Husband. It is not often that Supt. Harris of the N_B 8: P E I Railway at Sackville is “lied upon by a lady tobprovide her with a special train to Cape Tormehtlne- md when the request reached him _Suu any last it is perhaps no exaggeration to gate that it cams somewhat in the nature gf 5 surprise. '_ _ The woman in the case was a Mrs. Dr. _-of Lynn, Mass, a native of Quebec, and the most interesting fact in connect- ion with the case is that she was after her husband who has been on the Island. There are several stories going the rounds all more or less confusing, but the truth so far as can be learned is as follow:-;i Some months ago Miss -i left her home on the Island and went to Lynn where she secured employmqant. She is rather prepossessing in appearance, dresses nicely and has a very taking way with her. As a consequence she was not long in Lynn Withdut admirers. Among them was a wealthy old man who seized every opportunity to make violent love to the fairlslander. Another admirer was the old’s man’s son and between them the poor girl's_1ife was made miserable, so that she finally decided to return to her old home, which she did a few weeks ago. In the mean-time the old man was bundled of! down south by his family for the good of his health and the young man at once opened up a correspondence with' Miss -- with the object of trying to induce her to return to Lynn. In this he seems to have failed, for his next move was to arrange with a friend of his, Dr. to visit Miss -- in her Island home and if pouible prevail upon the young lady to accompany him _backto Lynn. The doctor cheerfully undertook the journey and the task of changing Miss-- mind. Just' why the young man did not make the 'journey' himself could not be learned. The doctor ar- rived at his destination afew weeks ago, and after some difficulty accomplished the object for which he was sent. Miss -- wduld accompany him back to Lynn. But just about this time the steamers got caughtjn the ice and even 'the ice boats had the greatest dimculty in making regular trips between _.the Island and the mainland, so that the doctor and' his fair companion postponed their trip from dayl to day, hoping for a favorabladay upon which to cross the straits. But the doctor’s wits had been ieft behind, and when day after day passed away and her spouse did not show up, she became uneasy, and finally decided to start out io search of him. She arrived in Sackville on Saturday and went to the Cape on the regular train having heard that her husband intended to cross _that day. But the husband did not put in an appearance, and the mueh agitated woman returned to Sackville and sent him a telegram that would make an or- dinary man’s hair curl. As a resu1t`of this Mrs. --learned Sunday morning 'hat her husband would cross that day, in order to be on hand to welcome him she hired a special train at the cost of $3) to convey her to the Cape. Here she found the doctor and his companion and after giving them a piece cf her mind they kissed all round and made up. The trio arrived in Sackville about 7 o’clock Sun- day evening and took the midnight train or the west. -Post. _ The story told The Guardian some days ago by a commercial man well acquainted .with the Doctor diders somewhat from the foregoing and is probably more cor- -rect.
