The new high school now un- der construction at North Rustico. situated on a hillside overlooking that progressive business centre re- cently raised to the status or an incorporated village, is so designed. The new structure fits nicely into an area group of buildings consisting ot the Church. the par- ish hall. tiie convent and parochial. residence. all identiiied over many decades by the name whzch will be given the new high school- Stclla Maris-"star of the Sea." The high school is designed to provide higher education for stu- dents in an area considerably be- yond the confines of North Rus- tico, or which that village is the natural centre and the most densely populated by children of graded and high school age. Occupying the site of the old school building, which had prev- iously been a canning establish- ment ot the Portland Packing Comp!-DY. hauled up lrom Rustico Harbour in 1935, work on'the new building was started on July '1 and will be completed early in the new year. MODERN Lsroui The layout consists of two "L' shaped wings which converge on the main entrance lacing the south A new type construction provided for the wings to be laid on six inch cement slabs. without excavation. The grade school wing is l46 feet long and contains six class rooms 31 by 22 feet. The high school wing is 120 feet long, with tour - class rooms also 31 by 22 feet. Both wings are 58 feet wide.
