The highway from Montague to Charlottetown was cleared Satur- day. but continued drifting made ccitain portions difficult to pass. The plow stationed at Montague was taken to Charlottetown on Saturday for repairs, and contin- ued its work yesterday evening clearing the highway from Char- lottetown to Montague. Among the large amount of cor- rrspondence received by the secre- tary during the month was a let- ter from the secretary of the King's County Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Frank Dewar. thanking the members of the Institute for their donations and other help in niak- ing their recent pantry sale a suc- cess. Copies of the Institute News were. distributed to the members. Mrs. Wesley Campbell provided a touch of humour to the meeting by reading a little poem concern- ning the appointment of officers at the annual meeting. Mrs. Cecil Campbell. who had been in charge of the orphanage campaign. re- ported a very successful collection fiom the district. In connection with the parcel to he sent to a former resident of the district now in the Infirmary in Charlottetown. the members were urged to have their individ- tiai gifts ready for mailing at the proper time so there wottld be no delay for Christmas. An amount was voted hy the ivembers to provide the children of the district with a Ciirlstnias treat. and it was decided that members would make candy to suriolemerit this treat. The different committees for the month gave their reports. one sick call and A treat provided was re- ported by the sick committee. Miss Minnie MacKinnon and Miss Lona MacDonald are to be in charge for next month. The next entertain- ment committee will he Mrs. Gar- net Moore and Mrs. Webb Nichol- son. Mrs. .7. N. MacDonald was in charge of the demonstration for the evening. and showed the mem- bers a miniature rock garden. The foliage consisted of various types of cacti and other hardy plants which formed trees and bushes. Tiny figures of animals were set amongst these to make it more re- alistic. Several artificial blossoms provided colour. As the members admired the "garden" being passed around, Mrs. MacDonald explained that the container was it bread pan ix-xhich had been painted to give 1'. :i mottled effect. Mrs. Cecil Campbell. one of the entertainment. committee gave sev- eral fun providing contests and awarded prizes to the winners. The next meeting is to be held at the home of Mrs. Wesley Camp- bell on the first Tuesday in Jan- uary. when the roll call will be inn- swcrcd by a New Year's resolution and a joke. Death of Mrs. Ethel Adolphe Many friends in Montague and Lower Montague will regret to learn of the death of Mrs. Ethel Adolphe In the P. E. I. Hospital on Saturday after an illness of several months. She was 66 years of age. The deceased. eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wightman, was born in Lower Montague. She is sur- vived by two sisters, Mrs. Laura Hubley. Brookline. Mass., and Mrs. H. W. Davidson, Charlotte- town. to whom the sympathy of the community is extended. The funeral will be held Monday at 3 p. m. from the Lower Montague United Church. Interment will be in the Lower Montague Ceme- tery.
