SUCCESSFUL Y E A R F ll R BEIJEIIIIIERINK Teacher’s Forethought Children From Po s s i b I e Death The forethought of Miss Dorden. teacher at Union Vale School, near O'Lea.ry, saved her pupils from in- jury or possible death, additional reports from the district assert. The pupils numbering about thirty were in school between 3 to 3.30 on Wednesday afternoon. when a sudden thunderstorm came up. Miss Dordon, who had had the experience of having a school in which she was teaching struck by lightning, decided that it would be wise to get the children out of the building. Without any fuss or causing the children undue alarm she dismissed the pupils. Hardly had they left the building when it was struck down and the whole front smashed in. Fragments of glass and wood went in all direc- tions. A Summerside gentleman driv- ing past the building on Thursday morning said that the door, win- dows and whole front of the building were smashed right in and lying in the interior of the. schoolroom. He said, had the. children remained in the school- room until their usual hour for dismissal, they would have no doubt been badly hurt. Miss Dor- don is to be highly commended for her wise precaution.
