Owing to the comparative failure of the crop in the wes!ern portion of Nova Seotia the prices are high—from fifty to sixty cents. The Canning, N. Several } other houses subscribed smaller amounts, | the subscriptions making a total of £10.- 000.000. This will constitute 4 guarantee fund for three years. [t is roughly esti- mated that the total liabilities of the firm, including £16.000,000 acceptances, amount to £21,000,000, while their assets at pre- sent prices are valued at £24,000,000. The Government has authorized the Bank of ingland, if necessary, to issue an additional 23,000,060 in nutes, and it will supply the dink Act if requisite. OCitawa Notes. Orrawa, Nov. 16. It appears from full returns that the eatch of seals by British Columbia sealers this season exceeds last year’s by six thousand skina. The total returns at Victoria from home and foreign sealers is forty-three the usand. The Post Oflice Department is negoiiat- ing with Hong Kong, Jamaica, Bardadoes aud the Leewari Islands for parcel post and money order exchange. Reports from the Northwest ranches in- dicate that the season has been a most suc- cessful one. ; The revenue for the first four months of the present fiscal year exceeds the expen- diture by five million dollars. The impression here is that the Baring failure will not affect Canadian securities or deposits. The O'Shea Divorce Case. Lonpon, Nov. 16.
