Engineers vs. Biology Dear Editor: I would like to comment on some inter-departmental rivalry that has been going on between Engineering and Biology. What first began as amus- ing, joking antics, went a step too far, and are now childish, bordering on criminal. I will now describe the latest inci- dent. There will probably be more. Last May, the Engineering Society bought materials and paid to get them made into what can now be seen in the flower bed in front of Duffy - Science Building. It was agreed that after the monu- ment was installed, the Uni- versity would take over the property. Now for what hap- pened Saturday morning, the Engineering students arrived to find our black monument splattered with white paint. We didn’t care, it only took us two minutes to repaint it. it needed a new coat of paint anyway! The fact is, this type of act is classed as vandalism. This type of behaviour is not ac- ceptable in our society. The ,students involved could be dismissed from university. I think that once a person is old enough to attend uni— versity, they should be ma- ture enough to act like re- sponsible adults. I hope. that in the near future, people involved in this type of nonsense will remember they’re in univer- sity, not in elementary school. Philip Aresnault U.P.E.I.
