FATAL RAILWAY ACCIDENT
AT WOODSIDE N. P]
MONOTON, July 28-John Holland,
a well known resident of Woodside,
died shortly afterwards of his in-
was run over Friday evening, and
iuriee. The deceased, who was eighty-
one years of age, had been over to
Halifax during the day. l\i crossed
the harbor on the Sugar Refinery’s
steamer and landed _at the refinery
wharf. While returning to his home
he attempted to cross the track on
'which are run small cars in which
the material from the excavation for
the new refinery building is removed.
He‘ was struck _by one of the cars
and it, and two others passed over
liini.<He was carried to his home in
an ;unconscious condition, and as- he
was seriously injured 'the ambulance
was summoned and he.was removed
to the Victoria general hospital. I-le
passed away soon after he entered

R. L. Borden will return to Ottawa
about September lst. Hon. George
E. Foster, who sailed on Friday. is
expected to arrive about August 2nd.
MOTOR BOAT EXPLODES
ONE MAN KILLED.
MONTREAL, July 28-An explo-
sion on a small motor launch oppo-
site Sherrington park, on Lake St.
Louis today resulted in the death of
one man and the serious iniury of
two others. Medard Palement,
owner oi the boat, had taken five
friends for a cruise, when the explo-
sion occurred and the craft took
fire. Oscar Sadve, aged 23, a barber,
who lived at St. Anno -De Bellevue,
with his mother declared that he
would swim to shore, and leaped ov-
erboard.,Elftesn feet from the shore
'he went under and was seen no
_more. The body was recovered late
in the afternoon, Medard Paisment,
the owner, and Sangell, were savers-
ly burned and others` of the party
_sustained minor burns, but they
were taken oil the burning craft just
in time by boats which put oil from
shore on seeing their danger. The
launch is 3 total loss. \
