Rev. Joseph S. MacKay was born in Nova Sootia and entered the service of the railway as a young study for the ministry in the Pres- byterian Church. For twenty-five years he did evangelistic work in many ports of Canada. and was known as the Evangelistic Conduc- tou". At the time of the Union of the Churches, he became a. United Church minister. Although Mr. Mac- Kay had been doing Evangelistic work tor twenty-five years, he was 11ot ordained until 191i when he was ordained and inducted in the Lot l0 parish, where he spent the next four years. later he was called lo Tyne Valley, Hampton and Bonshaw par- ishes. He afterwards had charges in different parts of Nova. Bcotlu and not long before his death he retired and resided in ‘Iruro. Lust summer he visited his old charge in Lot l6 and preached a stirring sermon with his old time vigour. Rev. Mr. Wood~ side, the present pastor at Lot i6 during the special memorial service, spoke very highly of the work ac- oompllshed by the lute Rev. Mr. MacKay, who was during his ille- time one the most forceful preachers of the day. Mr. Edward llnckhart was the soloist st this ser- vice.-S.
