The committee enthusiasm and apzimism is in part due to the ulUlllgll8l3 of other provincial nrganlzations, and in particular ,1he Women's Institutes to accept Farm Forum as a study group pro- gram that can be adapted to general use. One of the most important decis- ions arrived at was that of holding leadership short courses during me latter part of November in 0'i.eary. Kensington, Hunter River, Vernon River, Murray Rlver,'Mount Sinuialil. and Sourls. Farm Forum's Nivional Secretary Floyd Griesbach. will "be in the Province to attend these courses which will also serve the purpose of acoualnting representatives from many districts with the possibilities ill Farm Forum as a study group pmgram. Farm Forum Program The Farm Forum season will be :ill!Oi'lUCEd on Monday night at me usual time by a pre-season broadcast, which will pave the way for the regular sessions starting nil Monday November 2nd, when the Topic will be "The Agricultural Representative and the Farmer." This discussion will attempt to assess the relationship between the in-mer and Agricultural workers in the various departntent of Gm-ernment. The leading questions will at- tempt to discover, mi What use farmers make of the services offered by fleldman. tin The kind of help farmers ex- pect from fieldman. lei What farmers and Forums can ' do to help the fieldman reach more people. Forum groups are urged to meet on November 2nd, for an early start and regular Monday night sessions throughout the winter. Monday Night Is Study Night Farm Radio Forum on Monday night runs into competition from ii wide V, y of other activities many of h could possibly be held on other night in the W0t'k. . is problem that the F p ltee dealt with hm-fly and" recommended that the co-operation of other roups would be sought in keeping onday night clear as the onepnight in the week for the study of problems in rural communities. As Farm Forum grows in Dopulsrlty and public acceptance. it will no doubt more readily. stake A. claim for its night in the week, mil in Hie meantime it can be nlhrr groups to plan their gather- snoouraged by the willingness of ings on some other night. Potato Truckage In view of the fact that the initial price of 45 cents per bushel applies to potatoes delivered at shipping point it is vitally import- ant to 'he farmer that movement from the farm he done as econom- ically as possible. There is reason to believe L. L in some instances in the past that dealers and assemblers were quite generous in their allowance for this service, but for this season with its low returns the producer should not be called upon to pay more than the hauling actually costs. Questions and Answers Despite meetings and broadcasts there is still no doubt a number of farmers who do not have the answers to all the questions that may arise in connection with the operations of the potato pool and the agency. So far as possible the Federa- tion oiflce will answer mall en- quiries and is opened to discuss these matters personally with mem- bers who call. The next month will be a cool- ing off period or a time of decision for many growers, but at the end of that period the decision must be arrived at to join up or go in alone and take the chance ofl better prices. Main Advantages The two chief advantages in joining the Pool may be stated briefly, as follows: 1, The guarantee of a minimum price regardless of how low the market may be. 2. The assurance of receiving the average price and a final pay- ment should the market be above the initial payment. The chief disadvantage that will appeal to some farmers will be the one of not realizing the highest market price should a sale be made at that particular time. Dairy Public Relations. in recent years the Canadian dairy industry has been putting its best foot forward in order to make a good impression upon its customers in particular and the public in general. In this campaign the dairy farm- er has himself provided the cash to finance the most ambitious advertising programs ever attempt- ed by any section of Canadian Agriculture. Central Creamerles Ltd. by in- viting the public to visit and in- spect their modern plant not only provided the visitors an educat- ional experience but also made a worth while contribution in ac- quaintliig the public with many hiterto unsuspected aspects of the Industry.
