WatTson,-~oct 15, 4i — rr It having become known that a number of duck, snipe, woodcock, etc., were recently shot at the ‘‘Bigelow Farm,” which is situated but two miles from the city, a rush was made by city sports to that sporting ground, and consequently a large amount of game was ex- terminated. The keeper of the farm, in order to prevent tlie total destruction of his precious ame, poste! at the entrance—it is said—the ollowing ludicrously written notice : ‘‘Notis, tomen who com on my master’s plais with guns, hurraying voices & braying dogs, ashooting ani akilling my master’s game. | will no longer stand it, for] have only three snipe and not to exceed ten squirrels on my master’s plais which I want for himself, and to those men who bring their legs and hurray- ing voices here akilling birds will be fined re- eording as law; for I want all the woodpick- ers as they are by nature a ravashing animal for worms & such like, & my jay-birds hurt no won, andif let alone will help me muchly in the spring to keep away gruob worms and the like. I want all my woodchucks for my master’s eteing as I never disturb them, keep- ing them to get fat, when they air worth as mutch as my chickens or ducks air. I say this to inform sur fools from Charlottetown who seem to like to kill my master’s woodcheucks and says for the fun. I mean business as shure as I now sine my name.” | THERE was quite a lengthy docket at the Stipendiary Magistrates Court yesterday Thieves vagrants and drunkards made a large display, and received their respective sentences with extraordinary uncheerfulness. James Faraday and Thomas Enman were charged with a number of thieveries. It would be rather laborious, thought the magistrate, to examine their numerous offences, and he, making a bulk of the whole, seutenced each risoner to six months imprisonment with Sard labor James Murphy arrested for larcenies similar to those of Enman, was sentenced to three months imprisonment, with hard labor, for vagrancy. James protest- ed that he was innocent of all charges pre- ferred againstjhim. He said ‘‘ he was never free from suspicion ; and was always arrested for offences of which he was innecent. He might as well throw himself over the wharf, because he could not live in Ch’town without being looked upon, by the police, with suspicion.” John Wise was sentence! te three months’ imprisonment or pay a tine ef thirty dollars, for assaulting J. H. G. Murphy. Leo McCormack, drunk and in- chin was fined $2 and costs or 8 days; and John McLeod for the same offence was) tined $1 and costs or 4 days. This morning Leo McCormack and his brother Danivl McCormack were arraigned at the instance of H. B. Smith, Esq., for creat- ing a disturbance in the ‘‘ Dominion House.” It appears they entered the house in a violent state of intoxication and by their actions threatened to destroy the furniture, &c. Mr. Smith forcibly ejected them with rather short notice. The Court considered that Mr Smith’s action was similar to taking the law |. in his own hands and Leo, therefore, was ouly fined #4 or 20 days. and Daniel $3 or 19 days for drunk ani incapable. eee. —— MARRIED.
