The fact that there were four knock- outs and only three decision con- tests gives an idea of the char- acter of the rugged battling which took place. "Big Boy" Peterson, Prince Ed- ward Island heavyweight champ from Charlottetown, and Sid Murray of Summerside, one time light-heavy champion of the Can- adian Army, staged a bristling three-rounder as the mam at- traction and it kept the large crowd of fans at fever pitch throi . out. Grady won by a tech- nicai knock-out after 40 seconds of the third round with Doyle helpless on the ropes. A no-decision exhibition bout between two brothers, Ernie and, Freddie Cormier of Summerside! produced some of the best fight-i ing of the night. The way the boys went after each other made it look like a grudge fight. but their occasional friendly grins be- lied this. Two blind-folded fight- ers, Allison Arsenault and Bobby. Gallant, created a great deal ofl maker swings at the ozone pro. ducing gales of laughter, Don Trainer (135) of Charlotte- town had a little too much height, reach and experience for Sum- rnerside-‘s Cokey Grady (135). Grady put up a game fight in a losing cause but after 55 seconds of uneven battling in the third round referee George Stewart stopped the fight and raised Trai- ner's hand in token of victory. Bobby Gallant (137) of Char- lottetown knocked out Billy Com- panion (135) of Summerside after one minute and ten seconds of the second round. The judges split on the decision and referee Emmett Trainor called it even. “Kiiler" White (60) was a bit too heavy for “Slugger” DeCostc (52) in the opening bout of fihc evening's card though it was ap- parent that the “Sluggefi” was en- joying himself immensely the mauling he was getting at the hands of his heavier opponent. The closing bell meant nothing in DeCoste and he had to be forcibly restrained from continuigag the battle after the rounds were over. White won a unanimous decision. Both boys were from Stimmersidc.
