Among those attending were Mrs. Ira Brown, Mrs. Thomas. Davis and Mrs. Russel Roper of the pro- vincial executive. Mrs. Leo Doir- @n, zone commander, presided. Mrs, Clifford Lee was appoint- @d as zone secretary and Mrs. ‘Anthony Gallant as zone-vice- president. An. interesting question period followed and it was - decided that the zone executive should at- tend some of the meetings of the different -branches to find out what work was being done F Reports were _given by the treasurer and members of the membership committee. The annual ~meeting of the Spring Brook Women's Institute was held at the home of — Mrs. Arthur Campbell, with the pre- sident in the chair. Roil call was answered by eleven mem- bers paying dues. There were two visitors present who were later welcomed as members. The financial statement given by the treasurer showed a_bal- ance of $70.60. Reports were also given by convenors of Red Cross, sick and school commit- tees. Three members had per- fect attendance for past year. Business arising out of the minutes was discussed. It was agreed to donate $5.00 to Mul- tiple Sclerosis Society, also de- cided that each member bring an article for an infants layette to the next meeting, layettes to be forwarded to Unitarian Ser- vices Committee. Mrs. Arthur Campbell, read a report from the Red Cress, and Mrs. M.J. Doyle of North Rus- tico gave the ladies an interest- ing talk on Civil Defence. On three occasions Mrs. Doyle attended courses on this important work and gave us an outline of one phase of this topic ‘‘Emergency Feeding” in time of disaster, re- ferring to the hydrogen bomb in particular.
