How do they retalitate? By becoming al- lies with the very people that are exploiting them in the worst way, abortionists. In the United States, one of the major supporters of abortion (allegedly) is Playboy. Why? Because to Playboy, women are mere sex objects— play things for men, If that is not degrad- ing to women, I don’t know what is! By supporting abortion, the men waive the responsibility that would fall on their shoulders should their “play mate” become pregnant. They are the only ones being liberated by abortion. In both the United States and Canada, the pro-abortion move- ment is surrounded by a cloud of illusion. They hide behind the slogan “Pro-Choice” sim- ply because people shun “Pro- Abortion”. “Pro-Choice”? I have heard it straight from the mouths of fromer pro-abortionists, who are women, that everything they tell you in a “clinic” is a lie. They do not provide the information that a woman needs to make an in- formed choice. They are paid to sell abortions to women. Abor- tion counsellors are paid to cry at the dilemma of a single, pregnant mother and to convince her to abort her child. Money is what they care about, not women. Al- ternatives such as adoption or staying at a support home (i.e. Birthright) are certainly not pre- sented as practical solutions to a confused and scared women — they won’t bring in the bucks! Letiers= 2 Are “Pro-Choicers” there for a woman who has aborted and is trying to deal with the guilt of realizing that she has killed her own baby? Pro-Life people are there because they really do care about women and their babies. They provide real help, real coun- selling, and love for these women. I have also heard testimonies from women who have had abor- tions. None were told of the possible complications that are involved, and one was given the operation even though she wasn’t even pregnant! One woman told us; “I was having a bad day, so I walked into a clinic and said,‘I hate being pregnant!’. Instead of consoling me, the receptionist immediately arranged for me to have an abortion. Iwas led down a hall and into a small room fur- nished with only an operating ta- ble. The receptionist left me, and came back a few minutes later to give me a few sanitary napkins. ‘ You will be bleeding alot’, was all she said. I was terrified, but I couldn’t turn back then...” One of the other women was under sedation before she re- ceived any counselling, and be- fore she signed the consent form. Some way to provide a choice! A Great service to women! Don’t you agree? As long as abortionist are get- ting their money, they will con- tinue to exploit women, and get paid for it. If you are interested in the facts about abortion, check out the CYPLO table in the chap- laincy center. If you have ques- tions or arguments, write them down and leave them in the box provided. Also, leave us informa- tion about how we can get back to you. M.MacDonald Special Xmas Issue The Gem will have a special Christmas issue coming out on December 14th.
