Sports News The UPEI Rugby Panthers hosted Mt.A. and St. Thomas over the Thanksgiving Weekend. UPEI’s first team defeated Mt. A. 36-4. The Panther’s 2nd team won both of their games, beating Mt. A. 20-3, and edging out St. Thomas 16-12. Mt. A. defeated St. Thomas 6-0. In the first teams’ fame, Roland Gallant led the attack with three tries. Egan Henderson scored two tries, while Danny Johson, Trevor Bowie and Richard Nichols each scored a try. Danny Johnson scored two conversions. Mt. A.’s lone try was scored by John Hagen. The final score was UPEI 36, Mt. A. 4. With this win, the Panther’s first team improved their record to 4-0. This Saturday, they will play at Dalhousie, which promises to be an exciting game, as Dal is also undefeated. UPEI hosted a tournament for the second teams on Saturday. In the first game, UPEI defeated Mt. A. 20-3. Rob Jay, Mark Costello, Robert Fitzpatrick and Bob Bernard all. scored single tries for the Panthers. Robert Fitzpatrick converted two of the tries, Jim Kellet scored on a penalty kick for Mt. A. The second game in the tournament pitted St. Thomas against UPEI Tony, Jackson, Graham Carre and Steve Gibb all scored single tries for the Panthers. Two of these tries were converted by Robert Fitzpatrick. Frank Gillis scored two tries for St. Thomas, while Rob Wilson scored one. The final scrore was UPEI 16, St. Thomas 12. With this win, UPEI won the tournament and receilved the "turkey bowl", as the trophy for the thanksgiving weekend contest is called. The final game featured St. Thomas and Mt. A. Mt. A. won the game 6-0 on the strength of two penalty kicks made by Jim Kellet. Figure Skating - 1990/91! There are now opportunities for ex-figure skaters to continue to participate in the sport. We have several clubs in the immediate area that provide both senior & adult time. We also have openings for coaching positions both at the volunteer level and for individuals who might consider a paid teaching position at a low level club situation. CanSkate clinics and CanFigureskate Clinics are now being scheduled. We are now in immediate need for a coach for one club. This could be an opportunity for anywhere from one to three days a week depending on your schedule & availability. This is an opportunity for group work, private lessons and _ possibly precision.
