' __ The attendance at the Provincial, Exhibition yesterday was the larg.l est so far this year. The weather was -beautifully fine and warm and IHorne brothers this year ca tured this certainly contributed- to the t enjoyment of the visitors, who s thronged the -main building and the various show rings and amuse- ment booths, as well as the grand- stand at the race course. A feature of the afternoon was the -magnificent cattle parade on the centre grounds of the race track, in plain view of the grand stand. This parade has -been held in other years on the track, but as this interfered with the races the -present change was made, and worked very satisfactorily. The parade consisted of »beef and dairy prize winnig herds. and a visiting stock breeder informed the Guar- edly one of the finest seen in the Maritime Provinces. _ The Shield Winners .The shield for the -largest and best exhibit of dairy cattle in the parade offered by Messrs. Prowss Bros., was won by the splendid Guernsey herd of Mr Howard Corn- ing, of Yarmouth, N. S. There were eighteen cattle in this exhibit headed by the magnificent two year old bull, 'Dairymaid Captain of Hillside farm, wllo won the first prize junior yearling. junior and K-fraud championship at the Tornoto National Exhibition last fall, and ltllls year, at the same national' 'ftl r, was awarded the two year old n.ior ham lonshi and the grand dam at' fourteen years of nge made milk and 709 lbs fat. His sire, Mixter Captain, the first prize aged bull at the Toronto Exhibition, won the same prize here and was -shown yesterday mlong with Dairymaid. Mister Captain ls still a splendid specimen of his breed and was a distinct asset to the parade.He was aired hy Yeomnns King of tho Mnyl, the senior herd sire at Mixtsrs Farm, Massachusetts. and was previously shown here as a two year old. He has more than one hundred tested daughters, with average -milk records of 10;283 lbs. and- 512 lbs fat.
