I was warned not to use his name in my Column but I felt that a lot of people in this province would like to know that our Top Hockey Player is well and doing well our sis- ster province of Newfoundland and that P. E. I. stil holds top place in his affections. The sudden passing of Ben- jamin “Babe” Wood has left a void in the spovrusmen’s rhealm that will not be filled tor a long time to come. I have known “Babe” since he was a boy and in his passing have lost one of my sltauncnhest frierndas. He loved fishing and hunting and I can truthfully say-he was one of the finest sportsmen I have ever met. If they were all like him there would be no need of game wardens. In the time I know him I never heard him utter a -swear word. He will be greatly missed not ‘wily in his home but in the community in which he lived. We have had memona-ble hunts together but it was his associa- tion that I cherished most. It was a tonic to meet him and compare notes on game pros- pects in which he was so well versed. My deepest symlpachy is extended to his family in their bereve-merit. As for mysellvl‘ his memory will never grow dim. Bdckstretcli .
