A storm of such violence has not been known here for ten years. The extent of the damage cannot be estimated. Tae trial of the Parker girl for perjury must be conducted as a private prosecution, the Court refusing to regard the Crown as a party to it. “There are no doubt good reasons in law and equity for throwing upon the Os- bornes the trouble and responsibility of prov- ing their complaints, and it will be interesting now te note what they propose todo. They will gratify the public very much by carryin the case through, and if they do not there wil seem to be necessity for further investigation by the law, in some other form, into the facts connected with the murder of McCarthy. The additional facts that have come to light since the trial of the Osborne’s are important enough to justify the public in expecting that further enquiry will be madein some way, whether the Osbornes choose to drop their case against Parker or carry it through. —Monctun Times. Tuk Stipendiary Magistrate, of Halifax, de- livered the following judgment in the Brennan gase on Wednesday: ‘‘ After a most careful consideration of the evidence taken before me in thiscase, and the law relating to bailment, J am of opinion that there are sufficient eo to put the accused party, William C. rennan, on his trial for the offence charged against him, and in accordance with the authority given under section 52 and 56, chap. 30 of 32nd and 33rd Vic., I shall admit the ac- cused to bail, himself in the sum of $400 and two egureties in the sum of $200 each, by recog- nizance conditione to ensure his ——— in trial at the next sitting of Her Majesty’s: Supreme Court for the County of Halifax.
