Present at the time the current started to flow into the West Prince centre were V. A, Ains- worth, General Manager of the Maritime Electric Co., A. G. Ley, Distribution Superintendent fur the company and L. W. Hacker, Plant Superintendent of the Summerside Electric Light Plant. Thoa. Phillips, district represen- tative for the Maritime Electric Co. at O'Leary, threw the switch which answered the power supply problem that has been facing the community since the Champion Electric Light plant was destroy- ed by fire in February. Three Charlottetown men, Win- ston McKay, foreman, Darryl Wil- son and Alvin Andrews, and right O‘Leary men were employed on the last three miles of line work from O'Leary corner in and com- pleted the job Wednesday morning. The line from Summerside to Mt. Pleasant is owned by the town of Summerslde. The next jump from Mt, Pleasant to O'Leary was con- structed for the Provincial Gov- ernment by the Maritime Electric on a contract basis. The latter line is about 13 miles long and is leased by the Maritime Electric from the Government. The last three miles was constructed and is owned by the some company. E. l. ‘ A special meeting of the Sum- merside Board of rade was held last night in the own Hall with the vice president RS. Hinton presiding in the absence of the president, Mr. T. Earle Hickey. The meeting was held for the purpose of considering the question of the proposed Trans-Canada Highway in the Province. Consid- erable discussion took place by the members and it was moved by Mr. Donald Baker that the following resolution be adopted: Resolved that a committee of three be appointed to draft a reso- lution to be presented to the Pro- vincial Government, with copies to local representatives. suggesting that the present pavement be re- tained as the Thins-Canada High- way in conformity with the original idea conceived and approved in 1935; also that copies of the reso- lution be sent to the Town Coun- cils of liensington and Hunter River. The motion was seconded by Mr. W.M. Molllsh and adopted by the meeting. The three members ap- pointed to draft the resolution were RS. llinton. Fred Bell and T. J. Inman.
