Daniel McKinnon aged forty- two years. NEW YORK, Jan. 4-Army people interested in aviation are keenly watching the evolution of an armored monoplane, which is being built as an experiment at the factory of the Sloane Aeroplane Company at No. 823 Belmont Avenue, Brooklyn. The craft is the idea of John E. Sloane, a young engineer of means, ,who lives in Montclair, N. J. In his aeroplane he follows the stand- ard .lines of the Bleriot inonoplane. The size of the craft is about the _same as the ordinary Bleriot. The difference between this machine and the usual exhibition craft, lies in its car. The ear, or body, of the. craft will be entirely enclosed and covered with light armor. 'l`he place where the aviator usually sits willl be converted into a long, torpedo- like cab. _ it. will carry tivo passengers. As it was a cold] morning their fur collars were high when they were found, would largely pi-event them hearing the train. Mr. Sullivan was badly wounded on the head and Miss Mitchell was kill- ed instantly. Mr. Sullivan wa en on board the train which which i from struclr the unfortunate pair, and conveyedl to Montreal, where an ambulance from the Montreal General H‘ospitali in an unconscious condition to the hospital. It was seen that he had received a very serious wound in the head, and was only a matter of a very short time before death would ensue, which actuallv took place at half-past eleven o'clock this morn- the morgue, to await the instruc- tions of the coroner at Lancaster. The cutter in which they were rid- ing was smashed to bits, and the horse was killed. Miss Mitchell lived with her parents and several broth- ers and sisters at Curry’s Hill. An inquest was held at. Bainsville, and a verdict of accidental death was re- turned in the case of Miss Mitchell. Her neck was broken. When the engine crew discovered the tragedy they brought the train toa standstill, blew the whistle, and roused the village.
