It is a recognized foct that horsemen throughout the world are sportsmen in the truest sense of the word and in no country in the world is that truer than in this beautiful Province of Prince Ed- ward Island. llsre we find men in all walks of life engaging in the sport of kings, purely for the sport of it. We find others that are pre- paring tracks and horse race meets practically without the incentive of any financial gain, merely mak- ing an effort to keep alive the fincst sport in the world. Also grave driiiicultics have arisen rc- gnrding the prescription sale b1 driiggists and physicians of bever ages which could hardly be regard- ed as boneffidc medical treatment. It must be noted that these de- fects, while valid ground of critic- lsin of the ucts if we assume that they aimed at preventing people obtaining liquor in their own homes, are no valid grounds on which to allege failure of the old acts. - The real-question n-ow before thc people of various Provinces is two-fold. First, the better regula- tion of the sale by DIIYBICIBIXB and iirugglsts, and second, the future regulation of the quantity of liquor to be allowed in one's own private cellar. The proposal to invade the cellar marks 11 definite advance beyond the previous acts and it is well that nll our people should in ta-k- 111g this step, be fully aware of the new principle lnvolved._ it is also most desirable that they recognize that the new Fed- eral Law which may be used t0 prohibit the actual importation 0i the liquor itself and will not in any way interfere with the short- circuit" arranssment 1° which 9"‘, caption is now taken.
