Parliament and others. A number of
, members are total abstainers. His
` Honor recognized that the Club per-
forms an important function in soc-
l ial life, but one feature that detract-
ed`frcm its influence is the consump-
tion or liquor off the premises. Such
a, practice has been condemned by
English Judges in giving judgment in
similar cases, but when he considered
the overwhelming weight of evidence
in favor of the bona fide nature of
the Club he must come to the com-
clusion that this was a bona hde in-
stitution not formed to evade the
Prohibition I.u.w. His Honor then
dealt at some length with the second
question, was the supplying of liquor
by Doyle a violation of the Prohibi-
tion Act? This point had been ably
argued before him by the counsel on
both sides and numerous authorities
had been cited, the dulendgnt contend-
ing that this supplying of liquor was
not 5 sale according to the Prohibi-
tion Act but the arrangement or dis-
tribution of common property., His
Honor then considered the principles
_of law in the cases cited, which he
said were clear and authoritative. He
