A building occupied by Mr. Tuck, con. tractor, as a barn, was destroyed by fire about three o'clock this morning. Five horses, hay, harness, carriage, &c., were burnt. The building belonged to the Handley estate, and was formerly used by Handley as a ship carpeater’s shop. The reason of fire is very mysterious, Movnr Carmet, Ivu., June 5. A terrib'e storm struck this city at four o'clock yesterday afternoon, by which sixa teen men lost their lives, and half a mil. lion worth of property was destroyed. A large number were wounded, several of whom will undoubtedly die. At least twenty-five are still missing. Another dispatch says that from thirty to fifty are wounded, and about seventy miss - ing. Mount Carmel was a thriving town of about three thousand inhabitants, on the Cairoani Vincennes Railroad.
