THE NEW RAILWAY STATION- Are we to have a new railway station built in Charlottetown this surnmeri The question is urgent. Years ago the Superintendent, the railway stalf, neve Bl doctors and the general public condem- ned the present station as unhealthy and in elfsot said it was slowly poisonin8 “ll who lived and worked within lt. All would llketosave the lives and hasltll oi these worthy olllolals. And this can- not be done by erecting the new building at the foot ol Hillsboro street, which is if anything more water-soaked and slimy than the present site. As for the pref~ ent buildinglt ls,to say the least, not creditable to Charlottetown-a mere shell ofa structure. Some do not hesitate to call its disgrace to the city and to ihe Railway Department. The people have signified in the piainest possible way where they want the new station built. They have done this by resolution of our business men in the Board oi Trade, by resolution ofthe City Council elected by the people, by memor- la's sent to Ottawa by deputations that have waited on Mr.Blnir, Mr. Fielding and Mr. Preiontalne, by advocacy in the daily press representing both parties and ‘l hat worn out, elebilitated condition that comes in the spring would never come if the nerves are nourished through the oloocl. 'l`he 5 latter is apt to be impure at this season because diges- tion is iiupairerl and the i kidney, liver and bowels fail ' to keep the system cleansed ofwastc matter. Jamlesou’s Compound Syrup 5 ol iiypophosphltes l pnrifies the blood and re- stores the nerves to normal condition by restoring ap- petite and digestion and aid- ing the waste eliminating organs in the performance of their duties. An effective spring tonic we recommend with utmost confidence. Prics 75c bottle. J. ll. JAMIESUN, DRUGGIST. i The Metilssi Hail. ' wunnwmmaa-qpg, in almost every other possible way in which the general consensus of opinion can lie made known. It would be hard to ilnd in any city of Canada a more remark- able unaininity of opinion on a like im- portant local question. Surely the people have a right to be heard in this matter. True, there are an interested few who seek lothwart the public will by secret and underhani methods-secret and un- derhand because that it is the only poss- ible way to influence those in author- ity against the George Street site. We haveitwo representatives at Ottawa, Messrs. McKinnon and Haszsrd, both residents oi this city and both fully aware of the facts above recited. On them rests the responsibilty in large measure of seeiniz that the new station shall be built without delay and built where it ought to be. That responsibility cannot he avaded, nor have we any right to assume that they desire to evade lt. We write this by way of a reminder go our representatives, lest they forget how very vilal a question this is here felt to be. It is high time that all suspense was ended in this matter, the site selected and the money voted. \Ve shall be glad to aid our representatives in carry- ; ____._ ._ _ 1` ‘ 'f ' / / wi Know You want something for nothing and the nearest you ,,,,,i,,;, can come to that is by getting a good CARPET for the L' W‘ milxilizs-d price of a poor one.
