The disease is n deadly one and is distinctly infectious. Whether -rightly or wrongly there is it prevalent belief that proper precautions have not been taken with the promptness and enertry that ought to be umnifested on such occasions of grave public danger. A first requisite is strict isolation of infected premises to be at once established, and lobe maintained ` until the di~'-ease no longer exists. and all germs of the malady have been eradic- ated by the most approved methods. What is of quite at much importance is that house-holders shall look to the ,saniiary condition 'df their homes. lDipththeria may at any time manifest itself in a household without any of its members coming into Contact with ,diseased persons. \`ery commonly the fl cause is i-u an ill-kept cellar, or cellar I drain. VVit»h the cellar rendered practical- i iy air tight by banking, the effect of tires I in the living rcorns is to suck up the foul ‘ air out of the cellar into tue kitchen or the Sitting room, where the disease germs ami1ycat,a favorite of the little ones, rings the infection from the basement to the living rooms. It has been clearly established that diphtheria germs may be -propagated by decomposing vegetables or other filth, and transmitted in the way above referred to. Some .persons credit their medical at- tendants with the statement that a case under discussion was not true diphtheria but merely a case of “diphtheritic croup.” I Travelling Libraries Hon. That he supports the Fat-casein theory, we will __ show by his figures as given in the Advocate. he states that there should be a tlifferenee of value of 18 cents per 100 lbs. If the party ho handed it in said extract, considers it n answer in that sense, he fails to grasp ie object of the experiment as conducted y Prof. Dean. The clipping in question shows the pro- urtion of cheese from milk of ditferent grees of richness, and it expressly stntt S hat milk should be paid for according to s cheese making value.
