FLY CAMPAIGN IN WINTER. --A question frequently asked is ",what becomes of the house files during the winter. and where do the spring flies collie from‘? The opiinion was held for" a. long time that flies hibernated in warm and protected places. Closer investiga- tions found this theory to be errone- ous. lt has been shown that house flies exist and propagate in wlnlci us they do l-n summer only in a much smaller scale. 'i‘emperaturcs of from 1“ to l5 degrees Fahren- heit are quickly fatal to houseflies. Nature has equipped the fly with that tenacity t0 cling to life com- mon to the insect life. Hence with the advent oi‘ cold weather they seek ‘places whore warmth and food may be obtained. Wiih the advent of warmer weather these surviving winter ‘flies brood millions of their kind. This‘ dc- monslrzltés that fly campaigns could be much more economically curried on in the winter rind pro- bably more successfully.
