The speaker was Mr. George A. Jeftery. who reached that grand old age on November 14. His massage entitled "Satisfied Christians" was delivered with comparative ease and forcefulness. It embodied many high and lofty thoughts. Most inspiring of all was Mr. JefIery's numerous quotations from the psalms and other pas- sages of scripture. These quota- tions from memory revealed his unusual ability to memorize and quote whole chapters from all parts of the scriptures. To commence. Mr. Jena:-y quoted as his text psalm 1715, "As for me I will behold Thy face in right- eousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake with Thy likeness.” Brief- ly he spoke of the benefits of reading the psalms. He alluded to their spiritual uplift as well as their poetical superiority. He urged his hearers to find comfort, strength, warmth. vigor in the reading of the psalms. The main body of Mr. JeI'Icry's message contained three distinct divisions. First. the unsatisfactory period in man's existence; said he. "that period is now". He showed conclusively, that from the lowest to the highest, men are not com- pletely satisfled. for life holds many grave problems, dlscouragements and disillustons. Then he spoke on the period of transition when man takes greater interest in the things of eternity and those things pertaining to God and His righteousness. This tran- sition, he said, ”takes place when man becomes aware of God's con- cern and God's promises through the Gospel". Lastly, Mr. Jeffery spoke on the satisfied condition when those who put their trust in God and His word will experience the realities ol God's promises. In his concluding remarks he revealed his own personal Joy and satisfaction in looking with faith and assurance to the great prom- ise of eternity with the Lord. -5. IHVEEDALE-CHURCHILL W. I.
