This c.ontinent’s most readily available source of thorium, the United States Atomic Energy Commission says, is the Blind River uranium area, since two pounds of the material can be re- covered for each pound’ of uran- ium produced. TUBERCOLOSIS CONTROL Patients admitted to the San- atorium this year number about the same as last, indicating that a plateau may have been reach- -ed after a decline in the num ber of cases over the previous years. Outpatient clinics were held throughout the year at various centres on the Island as well as at the Sanatorium. An intensive program of tub- erculin testing followed by x- raying of positive reactors was carried out in selected areas in the province during the_ year. This method of detecting unsus- pected cases of tuberculosis is considered highly effected and more economical than mass x- ray surveys.
