The evangelists, ofcourse, spoke in Eng- lish, but nearly all the prayers. an- nouncements and personal counsel by the other ministers and people were in Swedish and Norwegian, which made' the services not only unique, but still more impressive. ' The Scandinavians are beautiful singers. A piano and organ played to- gether furnished the instrumental part of the services. Three hundred ol cop- ies ol the music books were presented to the choir, and 4,800 copies of the book was purchased by the congrega- tion. The music was truely inspired. Ihere were thirtyone days ot meet- ing. during which time sixty public services were held, in which 120.000 were spoken to, while on several oc- casions hundreds were unable to gain admittance either to the Tabernacle, the Temple or lecture room. There were no collections taken at the meetings, except two for benevol- ent objects, and a thank offering at the close ot the services, as Mr. Arctander had by an appeal in each church be- fore the special meeting opened, obtained over $1.300 ter the expense oi the Campaign. The converts were from :ll ages, classes, character and nationalities, amonz which were a saloon-keeper.and one who had been so diabolical that he had been given the title oi “the devil.” . The evangelists were given an en- thusiastic send-oil. when over 1.000 gathered at the station and sang and waved their handkerchieis as they bade them sdieu. _ , A committee of tive pastors and lay- men appointed by the American M. E. ministers meeting. waited upon the evangelists and presented a pressing ,invitation to return next year and hold i another campaign with them. From here the evangelists go to Philadelphia for a month of services, and then revisit Toronto lor the sixth campaign in that city.when the services i wili beheld in the hbtoric church on ~ 'Elm Street, of which Dr. German is pastor. lie Standard iiii é::.i;;2.‘;“ ESTABLISHED |825.. ~‘==`1‘ BCNUS YEAR 1 QOD The fourteenth Division of profits will be made as at 1 5, November, 1900.
