He was a son of the late R0- bert Russell, of New Glasgow, N. S. He was nearly fifty years on the ln- lcr`c0l0nlal_ being employed first in Newcastle as un engineer when the road was being built here. He work- ed up till Dec. 8, his last worlu being on the Logglevillc wreck that day. Mr. Russell was a most faithful and 'efficient Workman and his family re~ celved a message to that effect from D. Pottinger to-day. He had this month applied for leave to retire from service with the usual pension. He loaves a widow, formerly Miss Miirtlia Smallwooi, and three daugh- ters-Mrs. J. R. Johnson, Lloggic- \'ille; Mrs. A. E. Shaw, Newcastle, and Miss Elizabeth, at home. The surviving sisters are Mrs. Alex. Manu, New York, and Miss Elizabeth Rus- sell, New Glasgow.
