The most original models in the show were made in two colors. One jumper suit with bracelet length sleeves and buttons down the back, had a bodice of Dress Stewart tartan in white and a very full skirt of Royal Stewart. Highlighting the collect- tion was an afternoon dress with‘ u fringed shawl draped across the shoulders and caught up on the felt shoulder with a large gilt brooch. This shawl effect ll something quite new and will be shown on several future models. i One gown in violet wool had a high round neck and scroll em- broidery on the full skirt. while another woolen dress in light blue had embroidered ferns on the left ‘shoulder extending down the sleeve. The rest of the dresses Iwvere plain and austere almost to the point of uniformity except perhaps, for one——a black taffeta cocktail dress with a low square neck and short sleeves. ‘its full skirt was decorated just below the waistline with two broad bands of grosgrain in green and cyclamen. These were gathered into a bow, sprinkled with se- ‘quins. at the side. The dress was priced at about $18. Reds and yellow: seem to be the new autumn colors and most of the plain tailored suits shown were styled ln these shades. One coat in gold velour cloth had deep doiman sleeves and enorm- ous wooden buttons. The suits shown featured longer skirts and longer jackets; some designers In London are even concentrating ‘on the silsmly dropped waistline. 1Z1}.
