A l 1 i ri _I :1 .,_. ;_, THE MIIRNING GUARDIAN PORT ARTHU il AGAIN. Still another bombardment of Port Arthur has taken place and further damage has been indicted upon the Russian fleet in that port. This lsln pursuance of the double object of des- troying or capturing the Russian ships and capturing the famous stronghold under whose guns the iisetls sheltered. We do not know as yet what progress has been so far made in landing troops in the vicinity of Port Arthur, and it cannot be hoped that the fortitic itions can bereduced by a naval attack alone. The furious bombardment is, however likely to demoralise the garrison to some extent and prepare the way for s later`1 attack in force by sea and land. It seems not improbable that the Japanese may yet capture Port Arthur, and it will be a great point gained when they do so. The task must be, however, a grave one, if we recall how long a siege Sebastopol sus- tained before the allied forces captured It..
