Mr. J. W. Ballem and Mr. Havilasid Hor- ton, trustees. made complimentary re- marks and emphasized the efforts which the Women's Institute had made to improve conditions in the school. The prizes awarded by the Women’s Institute were merited as follows: Attendance, Elsie Brown; Deportment, Sadie Jenkins; Neatness, Eric Ballem; General Proficiency, Helen Jenkins. After the prizes, had been awarded a generous treat o! fruit and confectionery was passed around by the Institute ladies. Miss Frances Wood has been engaged to teach for the ensuing year. Miss Wood comes well recommended and the trustees have been fortunate in se- curing her services. The Sunday afternoon service of the Haaelbrook Baptist Church was well attended, Pastor E. J.
