A GALLANT RESCUE- Between four and five o'clock on Tiicsduy aftcr- noon, some small boys were playing on the Steam Navigation Wharf oppo- site Messrs Bruce Ste`wart_& Po., when one of them named Arthur Gor- mley _was accidently pushed over the wharf. John McNair of Bruce Stew- arts & Co., who with a helper was engaged in the vicinity heard the com- motion and immediately proceeded to investigate. When he looked .over t.hc wharf all that was visible above wai- er was a hat, and the boys hands. Mr. McNair immediately jumped into the water and rescued the boy as he was going down for the third time. This is the fourth life that. Mr. McNair has been fortunate enough to save. al- though quite yon_ng himself. Another ` gentleman who saw the accident, but was too far away to swim ro the dnowning boy endeavored to reach him by jumpingfroni one boat to an- other, but fortunately Mr. McNair was nearer and ,made the plucky rescue.
