In early life she chose the teaching profession ing in schools oi western Prince County beigro her marriage to Peter Callaghan on July 14. me. the old homestead with his pa- ate in every way and her natural kindly disposition soon won ior her the love and good will oi hernia- lawa and the admiration and re- spect oi her neighbors and friends. In this home where Christian charity reigned. Mrs. Callaghan filled her place with dignity with- out usurping the rights oi the elder Mrs. Callaghan. who died in mos at the advanced age oi 104 years. The declining years 0! this grand old lady were made happier -by the loving care of her entire family but more especially by the devotion of those with whom she lived harmoniously ior so many years. ( . Possessing more than ordinary intelligence, Mrs. Callqhan was an interesting conversationaiist and always took a lively interest in world aiiairs. It was a delight. to visit her home where she dis- pensed hospitality with no appar- ent eiiort and irlends were al- ways cordially welcomed. she took a special interest in the chil- dren oi neighbors and relatives and it was edliying to see the number of children who came to pay their her alert mental faculties to the last and ior this reason her pres- ence in the home wul be more sorely missed. In church. school and commun- ity Mrs. Callaghan was ever ready to do her part and neighbo 5 in whose homes there was sickness or ;orrow iound her equally ready to lend a helping hand. She was a devout and faithful membe oi the Roman Catholic Church and the ccnsolations or her religion were brought to her frequently during her illness by her pastor. Rev. Her comparatively long his was a continual preparation ior death and realizing that death was approaching she calmly awaited the summons, iully resigned to the Divine Will. In 1946 she' enjoyed the rare privilege oi celebrating with her husbandrtheir niversa ,. when their iamily and another in honoring this highly esteemed couple. left to mourn and cherish the memory of a much loved wits and mother are her husband. three sons and three daughters, name- ly: (I-laaei) Mrs. James Lawless.
